Dr. Tyler Styche

This is a question that can vary by a patient's condition as well as the patient's age as we heal much more rapidly in our younger years.

This can also vary on the type of chiropractic treatment you are receiving. Yes, there are many different variations of ways chiropractors practice, which I will discuss in a future blog.

In our office we primarily do full spine manual adjustments. It is recommended that treatment starts more aggressively in terms of patient visits at the beginning of care. This is because it is important to unlock the stuck joints within the spine and keep the motion in the joints without allowing the opportunity for them to tighten back up. Three times per week to start care is the most common care plan.

Symptom loss may start rapidly with a 50% reduction in the first 3-4 adjustments, though the next 25% may take 12-15 adjustments. Every single body is unique however, so it is impossible to know. One thing we do know is that every single body will perform better with motion in the joints and a nervous system free of interference, which is what spinal adjusting is doing.

After the initial care plan it is recommended to continue with wellness chiropractic care plan in order to actively maintain a healthy lifestyle. Most wellness patients get adjusted 1x per week, though some prefer 2x, or bi-weekly.

Personally I get adjusted 1-2 times per week. Many of our wellness patients are in their 70s and 80s and living a more healthy/active lifestyle than people in their 50s and 60s.

Chiropractic is about maintaining proper nerve signals in the body so the brain can send signals to the entire body without interruption.

The chiropractic adjustment resets the nervous system, which is similar to when you reboot your computer. The computer begins to operate slowly and you reboot it so it begins to run more efficiently. The body is no different in terms of maintaining proper nerve flow.
